Karen Henderson teaches writing and honors classes at Helena College University of Montana. Having returned to school later in life and having been a “non-traditional” student, Henderson relates to students who choose non-traditional pathways to higher education and career goals.
A 2007 graduate of Montana State University (go Bobcats!), Henderson earned her BA in English Education with a minor in K-12 School Library Media and then went on to earn her MA in English, also from MSU, in 2009. Her areas of study while a grad student were pedagogy and memoir, and those continue to be her passions today.
Henderson has been at Helena College since January 2012; prior to that, she taught writing at MSU (as a grad student), Montana State University Billings (and City College), the Montana State Women’s Prison, and Passages Pre-Release Center in Billings.
Besides teaching and learning, Karen enjoys reading, writing, music (all types), kayaking, and a lovely glass of red wine.
